Welcome to the Don't Turn A Blind Eye Blog. Here, we are going to discuss how our planet got to this stage in the environmental crisis, who should be held accountable, and how each and every one of us can help reverse this damage. It's clear to see, Earth is not in its natural state. Each day our planet is littered with trash, pumped full of fossil fuels, air is polluted, and our ozone layer is facing permanent damage. This is not a small "temperature problem", this is not just our summers getting hotter, this is a global crisis that will affect every single living being on this earth. The NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc.) believes we may only have twenty years until the harm is irreversible. The natural disasters we've been experiencing at a heightened rate over the past years, will only increase in frequency. Climate change will do more than make the planet hotter. It will destroy homes, animal habitats, decrease agriculture, and change life as we know it.

Global warming and climate change have been problems many have been putting off for years, either claiming "we have time" or "it's not my problem to fix". Although we need to hold people- and corporations- accountable, this is not the time for pointing fingers. To fix what we've done, we all have to work together. Making lifestyle changes, being more mindful of your carbon footprint, are all ways we can work together to reduce emissions. We also have to work together to hold corporations and governments accountable for the waste and fossil fuels they produce, and not accept excuses anymore. Big corporations must be shown that they are liable for most of the global warming our planet is experiencing. The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre says a study conducted shows that only "100 companies have been the source of more than 70% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions since 1988". 100 companies. That is all it took. We cannot let them get away with this anymore. It may be cheaper to use harmful fossill fuels, but soon, if we don't change this, there will be no companies. There will be no people, no civilization. We will go extinct. There is no way to ignore this anymore, and we cannot push this problem onto other people. It is our time to act. Our time to change the world. And we need all the help we can get.
